Hello,

The study of hearing, speech, balance, and related issues is known as audiology and speech. An audiologist and speech therapist/pathologist is a person who has finished a course in audiology and speech. This course will teach you how to diagnose and treat hearing and speech impairments, as well as how to counsel people who are differently abled and lack communication skills.

Candidates interested in audiology and speech therapy can enrol in undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate programmes. Candidates must meet certain eligibility criteria in order to be admitted to these courses.

For undergraduates include:

  • Candidates interested in pursuing any UG courses in audiology and speech must have completed 10+2 level or equivalent level of examination from a recognised board in India.
  • The stream in higher secondary level should be science, preferably physics , chemistry and biology .
  • The minimum marks requirement in +2 level is 50% to 45% for General category and 45% to 40 percent for SC/ST category.
  • In addition to 10+2 level marks, some colleges conduct entrance exams as well. The final admission to this course is then made on the basis of both the marks.

Postgraduate courses

  • Candidates for postgraduate studies in audiology and speech must have completed an undergraduate programme in the relevant field.
  • A minimum of 55 percent aggregate marks are required in the associated undergraduate programme, with a 5% relaxation for SC/ST students.
  • Candidates may also be required to complete admission tests administered by various colleges. Candidates may be admitted to PG programmes based on both of their results.

For diploma courses,:

  • Candidates interested in pursuing a diploma in audiology and speech therapy must have completed a 10+2 level or equivalent examination from any recognised Indian board.
  • Science, particularly Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, must be the stream in higher secondary school. In the 10+2 level, a minimum score of 50% is necessary. Students in the SC/ST group receive a 5% reduction in their tuition.

Other than this some colleges prefer entrance exams listed below

  1. All India Institute of Speech and Hearing Entrance Examination (AIISHEE):
  2. All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) UG and PG Test:
  3. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET):
  4. The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) Entrance Exam:
  5. Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) Entrance Exam
