Hey Riya! If you want to become an Ayurvedic doctor, the best path is to pursue BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) after your 12th in the Science stream with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). PCB is mandatory because Ayurveda, like modern medicine, requires a strong foundation in biology and related subjects. After BAMS, you can practice as an Ayurvedic doctor, work in hospitals, or even start your own clinic.
For 12th, choose PCMB if you want more flexibility, but at least PCB is essential for BAMS eligibility. You can also consider preparing for NEET if your state or college requires it for BAMS admissions. Some private colleges have management quota seats too, which you can explore if your NEET score is lower.
To become an Ayurvedic doctor, you should choose Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) in 11th–12th. After that, clear NEET exam and take admission in BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery).
Without NEET, BAMS is not possible.
To become an Ayurvedic doctor (BAMS – Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery), you need to choose the Science stream with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) in your 11th and 12th standard. Biology is compulsory, as it is the main eligibility requirement for medical entrance exams. After 12th PCB, you will have to appear for NEET-UG, as BAMS admissions are done through this exam. So, select the Science (Biology) group to keep your career path toward Ayurveda open.
Hello Riya !
For becoming an ayurvedic doctor you need to keep certain things in mind:
1. You need to choose science stream ( PCB) in class 11 and 12 and pass with minimum 50-60% (general category).
2. You need to fullfill the age criterion - you must be atleast 17 years old by December 31 of admission year.
3. Then you need to appear for NEET UG which is mandatory for BAMS.
4. If you clear NEET - UG you will then participate in AYUSH counselling to get into a BAMS College, secure seat, verify documents and Pay fees.
In this way you can finally begin your journey as an ayurvedic doctor. All the best!
