Hello dear

There's two routes for going into Isro.

  • First one,  by getting admission in IIST (Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology) through rank in Jee advanced  can be the easiest ticket to get absorbed in ISRO as a scientist/engineer
  • second route , if you could not get into iist then you should do engineering after 12th for going into Isro.
  • You have to pass the examinations conducted by ISRO. +3 for correct answer and -1 for wrong answer. In totality there will be 80 questions to get into isro after b.tech . You can also appear in this exam in your final year of your engineering.
thankyou

Please feel free to ask your further queries if any.

Hello Anagha,

Pursuing mechanical, electronic or computer science engineering is the way to get into ISRO. Look out for their call for recruitment for the post of scientist / engineer (first week of Feb) during the final year of engineering. The cut-off for applications is 65 %. A test consisting of 80 MCQs is then held, followed by interview rounds for candidates clearing the test.

If you want to pursue mechanical, make sure you have taken at least 3 thermal subjects, including Applied Thermodynamics, and Heat and Mass Transfer. This way you can also apply for HVAC posts.

All the best.

Dear Anagha,

A scientist in ISRO not only researches and studies about mechanism of rockets. ISRO has 32 centres across 23 cities in India. ICRB of ISRO will recruit vacancies for these centres. Scientists in ISRO come from a wide variety of disciplines like Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science, Civil, Electrical, Refrigeration, Air-conditioning, Architecture, etc. The degrees available for ISRO recruitment are B.E, B.Tech, B.Sc(Engineering), Diploma+B.E/B.Tech(Lateral Entry), B.Sc+B.E/B.Tech(Lateral Entry), AMIE, B.E,B.Tech(part time).

Hiiii

I'm very happy to know you have such a good interest.

So here is what you have to do

  • you should have maths and physics as your subject in 12th and should have thorough basic knowledge of it.
  • Take admission in Indian Institute of Space Science and technology.
  • ISRO often picks up graduates from IIT and other reputed college.
  • It's considered students of Aerospace engineering  Mechanical engineering, radio engineering, and engineering physics get selected often.
  • Percentage of 65 and above in all Btech subjects.

Moreover the job of a scientist requires deep knowledge and a mindset for tackling tricky and patience testing problems.

Also not necessary that these traits would be inherited by every person. Importantly, remember that these could as we be the key to one's selection.
