A disciplined preparation as per JEE syllabus is ideal at the start of class 11. There should be a proper schedule to study effectively. Coaching classes provide students a balanced approach where they can prepare for IIT JEE in a consistent way and at the same time they can do good in school also.

If you join a coaching institute for JEE,

  • Don’t miss out on any class and give your full attention in the class.
  • Make notes which are easy to read for you.
  • Solve regular questions on the topics that are taught in the class.
  • Solve questions that are within the syllabus. Don’t go deep into the topic as if you are doing research. The objective is to clear the IIT examination, you can do the research part later when you get admitted to IIT!

All the very best and good luck.

Hi Subramanian,

Kudos to your passion.

Most of the top rankers start their preparation right after their 10th Borad Exams. You can start by studying class 11 NCERT which is the Bible for JEE Preparations and is quite lucid to understand. This way you'll get a hint of what the study and syllabus in the next two years is going to be for you and also it'll put you ahead of your future classmates in class 11.

Once you're done with this and feel confident you can borrow some Study Material from your seniors and glance over them or even begin your proper preparation. I feel you need not do any Foundation Material as that is often "JEE-like" syllabus and not exaclty JEE syllabus so you need not consume your time and energy doing that instead just begin with your proper JEE preparation starting with NCERT.

Hope it helped. :)

All the best!

Hey Subramanian,

You are having you are 10 th board exams right? after the completion of exams, mostly you will be getting 2 months of holidays, try to use that holidays.

Go with some IIT-JEE foundation books and even go for some IIT-JEE coaching centres which are near to your home or which is convenient to you, which is definitely useful for the preparation of your IIT-JEE.

Attend the coaching classes regularly and prepare well

all the best!
