If I do Honours in Chemistry and leave out Physics and Math, then how many subjects will I have and what will they be?
Hello Aspirant,
If you are going to take an Honours degree in Chemistry and do not enroll in Physics and Mathematics, your subject structure often will consist of the following.:
- Core Subject - Chemistry (Honours Major)
- Generic Electives (GE) - Usually two subjects from others fields (other than Physics and Mathematics in your case), such as Botany, Zoology, Environmental Science, and/or Computer Applications etc.
- Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC) - Compulsory subjects that are either English or a regional language and Environmental Studies course.
- Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) - Practical or job-oriented courses that may be chemistry related.
So overall you would be completing approximately 4 to 5 kinds of subjects; however, Chemistry will be the bulk of courses you undertake. Depending on your university or college, there will be various subjects that you will study.
