Hello Aspirant,

If you are going to take an Honours degree in Chemistry and do not enroll in Physics and Mathematics, your subject structure often will consist of the following.:

  1. Core Subject - Chemistry (Honours Major)
  2. Generic Electives (GE) - Usually two subjects from others fields (other than Physics and Mathematics in your case), such as Botany, Zoology, Environmental Science, and/or Computer Applications etc.
  3. Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC) - Compulsory subjects that are either English or a regional language and Environmental Studies course.
  4. Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) - Practical or job-oriented courses that may be chemistry related.

So overall you would be completing approximately 4 to 5 kinds of subjects; however, Chemistry will be the bulk of courses you undertake. Depending on your university or college, there will be various subjects that you will study.
