Hello,

If you receive a compartment in two subjects in your CBSE Class 12 exams, consider the following points:

  • Compartment Exam Schedule : The CBSE Class 12 compartment exams are typically conducted in July. For 2025, the exams are expected to commence on July 17, 2025.

  • Result Declaration : Results for compartment exams are usually announced in August, allowing students to proceed with higher education admissions in the same academic year.

  • Mode of Examination : Regular students will take the compartment exams through their respective schools, while private candidates must apply directly to CBSE.

  • Eligibility for NITs/IITs : After clearing the compartment exams and achieving an aggregate of over 75% in your Class 12 results, you become eligible for admission into NITs and IITs, provided you also meet the required JEE Main and Advanced cut-off scores.

Hope you find it useful !

If you get a compartment in two subjects in your CBSE Class 12 board exams, you can take the compartment exams usually held in July/August of the same year, and the results are typically announced within a few weeks after the exams. You will take the compartment exams through your school as a regular candidate, not as a private candidate. Yes, if you clear your compartment exams and achieve an aggregate percentage above 75%, you will be eligible to apply for admission to NITs and IITs, provided you meet their other eligibility criteria like JEE Main/Advanced scores.

  • Multiple attempts:

You get up to three chances to clear your compartment exams, with the subsequent attempts usually held in March/April of the following year.

  • Exam format:

You will only need to retake the theory papers for the compartment subjects, not the ones you passed.

  • Eligibility for NITs/IITs:

Clearing your compartment exams with the required percentage will make you eligible to apply for admission to NITs and IITs based on your performance in the JEE entrance exams.

GOOD LUCK!!
