Hello Arun,

On behalf of the Tamil Nadu government, Anna University conducts TANCET (Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test) to as an entrance examination to grant admissions in MBA, MCA, M.Tech, ME, M.Plan, M.Arch courses in the state's universities. Madras University has declared that candidates who wish to get admission in Madras University can undertake TANCET as a common entrance exam.

Of course, but in order to get admission to over 400 various colleges, including Madras University, in Tamil Nadu, you'd need to clear the cut off. Candidates who obtain more than the cut off marks prescribed in the rank list will be given preference and called for counselling.

So you'll be able to apply for Madras University if you pass TANCET.

Note: If you have appeared for Gate'19 and have qualified the exam then you can directly take part in the counselling round. There wouldn't be any need to appear for TANCET.

I hope this helps you.
