Hello

To avail the benefit of EWS category you not only have to prove that your father'sannual income  for the year 2020 to 2021 has been below Rs 8 lakh but you also have to prove that the total earning of your household (family income) has been below 8 lpa. Also, your family must not own land more than 5 acres. You will need to get a Income and Asset Certificate from a Competent Authority to prove that you belong to EWS category (now, in some exams they ask you to provide the EWS certificate issued by your domicile state while in some they ask you to provide the EWS certificate issued by the centre).

Another factor is that you should not come under any other reserved category like SC or ST or OBC.

For more details you can refer to point 4 of https://www.ugc.ac.in/pdfnews/5489304_EWSs.pdf

All the best!
