Pravin, if the length of potentiometer wire is increased by keeping constant potential diff. across the wire, then the null point is disturbed and obtained at larger distance than earlier. As you know, the potential gradient is equal to V/L ie Potential difference divided by length of the wire. So, the potential gradient decreases with increase of length of potentiometer wire, therefore, null point is obtained at longer distance.
