With 82.5 percentile and an OBC rank of 89,500 in JEE Mains, it's tough to get top NITs or IIITs. But you can still get admission in some newer NITs or GFTIs in lower branches like civil or mechanical. Also, many good state-level engineering colleges accept JEE scores—like in Punjab, Haryana, MP, or UP. You can also look into private colleges like LNCT Bhopal, SRM, or Manipal. Apply early and consider backup options too.

With an 82.5 percentile in JEE Main 2025 and an OBC rank of approximately 89,500, your chances of securing admission to top-tier National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are limited. However, you may still have opportunities in newer or less competitive NITs, certain Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs).

While admission to top NITs might be challenging, some newer or less competitive NITs may offer seats in branches like Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.

  • NIT Agartala
  • NIT Meghalaya
  • NIT Mizoram
  • NIT Nagaland
  • NIT Puducherry

Some IIITs might consider candidates with your percentile for branches other than Computer Science Engineering (CSE). These include: Careers360 Engineering

Recommendations

  • Utilize the JoSAA Counseling Process : Participate in the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling to explore available options based on your rank.
  • Consider State Counseling : Explore state-level counseling processes, especially if you have a home state advantage.
  • Explore Private Institutions : Apply to private colleges that accept JEE Main scores and have good placement records.
  • Prepare for Spot Rounds : Keep an eye on spot round admissions, where seats may become available in later stages.

While top-tier NITs may be out of reach, there are still several viable options to pursue a quality engineering education. Consider your preferences, branch interests, and location to make an informed decision.

Hope this helps !
