Dear student,
If you get admission in a general seat in any iit/nit/iiit/gfti through iit jee then first you need to pay the fees according to general category only. However each year students have to provide their income certificate to avail tuition fee waiver and the students who had not availed the facility before but have less family income get a tuition fee waiver. I am a student at one of the nit's, and this is what happens there. So you need to pay the fees initially as a general candidate then if this facility is provided you can have the tuition fee waiver.
