In terms of placements METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING (http://www.opju.ac.in/soe_mme.php) branch is best. The Department of Metallurgical Engineering at OP Jindal University imparts quality education at undergraduate and post graduate level with a special emphasis on innovation, design, implementation, and improvement of processes that transform mineral resources to metals and then to a useful product. To ensure that students are sought by various metallurgical companies. The department provides training in various cutting edge technologies, inculcate professional behaviours, inculcate ethical values and develop leadership and team working capabilities. Our program provides flexible curriculum enabling the students to achieve their goals and make them industry ready.

Write now CSE/IT is having the best placement.. and with the growth of IT/ecommerce/Investment Banking, the industry needs more and more efficient coders..

ECE is also having good time as VLSI field is growing..

Core fields like electrical/mechanical/civil are evergreen.. it may not give a very high initial salary but with time it will grow..

My suggestion is to not look for package right now and follow your passion..

All the best
