Kuvempu University was established in 1987 and it is named after the great Kannada writer Shri Kuvempu. The University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 2(f) and 12(b). Kuvempu University is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The university is spread over 230 acres of land. There are 99 colleges affiliated to Kuvempu University, out of which there are 3 constituent colleges, 30 Government aided colleges, 65 unaided private colleges, and one college under the direct control of the University. The university is located at Jnana Sahyadri, Shankaraghatta in Karnataka. The university has secured 81st rank in the University category in NIRF 2021 Ranking.
