Hello Aspirant,

For the first year of a B.Tech. in Information Science and Engineering, the curriculum typically focuses on foundational subjects from both computer science and core engineering.

Syllabus

  • Mathematics: You will study different types of mathematics including Engineering Mathematics , Linear Algebra , and Probability and Statistics . These subjects build the logical and analytical skills necessary for a career in information science.

  • Core Engineering: Courses like Engineering Physics , Engineering Chemistry , and Basic Electrical and Electronics Engineering are often included to provide a broad base of engineering knowledge. You'll also have lab sessions for these subjects.

  • Computer Science: This is where you'll start with subjects like Programming and Problem Solving using languages like C or Python, Data Structures , and an Introduction to Computer Science and Engineering .

Books

  • Engineering Mathematics: B.S. Grewal's "Higher Engineering Mathematics" is a very popular book for this.

  • Programming (C/Python): For C, "The C Programming Language" by Brian W. Kernighan and Dennis M. Ritchie is a classic. For Python, "Python Crash Course" by Eric Matthes is a good choice.

  • Data Structures: "Data Structures and Algorithms" by Alfred V. Aho, John E. Hopcroft, and Jeffrey D. Ullman is a widely used textbook.

This video provides an in-depth review of the Information Science Engineering branch, which may help you with your career decision.
