3rd year B.Tech students are not eligible for gate examination. To be eligible for gate a candidate should have completed B.tech. Final year students are also eligible to take the exam.

Don't worry. You are in 3rd year. You have time to prepare well for gate examination. So, prepare well for gate and take the test in next year. All the best.
