Yes, admission to this prestigious is done based on the entrance exam. Admission to AIIMS is done on the basis of AIIMS MBBS entrance exam. A common merit list is prepared based on the AIIMS entrance exam. Candidates will be called for counseling at AIIMS Delhi for counseling.

JIPMER conducts its entrance exam for admission to various JIPMER colleges across the country. The admission to MBBS seat will be done on the basis of merit list which will be prepared based on performance in the exam. 5 rounds of counseling will be done for getting admission.

Right now tge education departments and nata was planning to merge the aiims as well as jipmer entrance exams wuth the neet entrance too. 

By doing so, they want to reduce students pressure of apoearing in different exams simultaneously. And to conduct a common national medical entrance exam.

But, the bill for this is yet to pass.

If all goes well then from next year the neet is the only exam which will be held for medical seats. And aiims & jipmer will be out.

Dear Shantanu, AIIMS and JIPMER are Autonomous Institutioms which conduct their own medical entrance examinations. With MCI being scrapped off and NMC Bill coming to force, we are yet to see how things unfold. Atleast as of now what we know is only NEET PG has been scrapped off in favour of NEXT exam. But AIIMS PG and JIPMER PG have been retained. It might happen the same with AIIMS MBBS and JIPMER MBBS as well.
