Hello,

The two fields are certainly related enough that many financial entities would consider you for employment, if you had a bachelor degree economics .

A CFA is a professional designation, not an educational one. According to the CFA Institute membership guidelines, the requirements don’t specify what your degree is in, simply that you have (at least) a bachelor’s degree.

The two years of professional work experience is probably going to be the biggest item on the list. For a freshly-minted graduate, that requirement essentially means starting your career in finance, with all the bumps and setbacks that entails.

Fortunately, economics grads - especially those with some specific course work in finance - are usually good fits for investment-related positions. Ideas like the time value of money, expected value, and risk management are the subjects for both fields.

So yes, you can opt for CFI after BA in economics.

I hope this will help you.

All the best !!
