See Ritik,

It must be an individual's personal choice and no one must decide for you that you are gonna go for a drop or just get admission in a college and start pursuing your goals.

The thing which matters here is that what you truely desire for. That is if you really need some very high reputed college then you surely need a drop ( if you haven't been able to achieve high ranks).

But if branch is all that matters to you, then you can atleast try for that in NITs and some other colleges (if you have somewhat good rankings for that).

If both cases are not true or if you are not satisfied with whatever you are getting at the moment then only you must go for a drop.

Hope it helped..

Hello aspirant,

came across a post by Mr Paras.kumar Agarwal Director.and Founder of Brothers Academy Ranchi, one of the best institute for IIT-JEE preparation in Ranchi, about one should drop for JEE or not. Paras Sir has been training students for IIT for years and has given some great results. He gave a detailed and befitting answer to all the queries of students regarding this. I am copying his post exactly as he wrote with all due credit to Sir, As I tried to search him on quora and found out that he is not on quora yet. The purpose is only to benefit students and not plagiarism, I hope sir pardon me.for this

Hope you understand,

Thank you

Hello ritik, hope you are doing well sir!

If you feel you haven’t score good or if you think your score is quite good still you didnt get good college you can definetely try next time to attempt for the exam and try to score more as earlier and opt again for the good college.. if you are sure about scoring good marks in next exam don’t drop the option if you are really intrested in what you are doing!

I hope this will help you!

All the best

Hi Ritik

JEE is all about your devotion and hardwork. If you really wants to join a reputed engineering colleges like IITs, NITs, RGIPT then it is good to take a drop. If you feel that you can do great next year with preparation of one more year then you must give it a try.

See JEE is not that much hard. Students makes it difficult for themselves to crack it. Most of them don't revise the syllabus daily and don't do the DPPs and worksheets given by coachings and leave them for next day and the day never comes and at last they are overburden with lots of syllabus and then they lost all the hope.

If you really wants to get into a good college then don't repeat these mistakes and if you are a repeated then you must know about the mistakes you did last time. So don't repeat then and success will be yours.

Thank you

Hello Ritik

Taking a year drop for JEE preparation is not an easy choice. Only if you are confident of doing way better than you did this year only then should you take a drop. It has its advantages and disadvantages as well. While it gives you experience and an extra year ahead of the regular students, you always have the burden of performing well because you have sacrificed a year for that. So it is fraught with danger. Think we'll before you decide.

Hope this helps.
