Regarding Mechatronics at SRM University:

Pros:

• Some really good professors who are very knowledgable in their fields. Its super-fun to sit and listen to their classes.
• You will have ample number of opportunities to participate in fields of your interest.  You have students from Mechatronics as part of many projects such as Robocon team, Camber Racing, Team Humanoid etc. So you get to build things from scratch if you are passionate about them.
• Good infrastructure and labs.

Cons:

• You will not have a lot of flexibility in subjects and professors. That being said, there are changes being implemented every year making the curriculum more flexible and timings of classes.
• Most of the professors are average with a mix of English+Tamil. You need to learn to deal with it.
• Jobs perspective- Do not have high hopes on obtaining a core job as very few companies recruit students of Mechatronics department.  Its all IT companies. Period
• You have to be a student interested in the subjects who can extract and make teachers clear your doubts. Along with that, it will help you, if you are independent.  You have to prove yourself. You will be a lot of opportunities for the same.
