Yes, it is true that the year in which you have given JEE Mains, in the same year you will have to give JEE Advanced Exam also.
For Example like you have given JEE Main in 2019 and got 92 percentile means you have qualified the cutoff for JEE Main, so in the year 2019 only, you have an option for appearing in JEE Advanced. You can't do like this that you give JEE Main in 2019 and give JEE Advanced in 2020.
