Yes there is a quite big difference between preparations of jee mains & jee advanced that is in jee mains the duration of exam is only for 3 hours which everyone knows contains 360 marks. And the syllabus isn't much difficult because the entire syllabus is as same as we studied in class 12 so it become easy for us to cover the syllabus. There are also some easy chapters in chemistry, mathematics so that we can score good marks.

While in jee advanced exam, it become difficult to score good marks easily that the duration of exam is 6 hours and there are two exams take place in a single day. This become difficult because you have to concentrate on both the exams equally, at least you need 6 or 7 hours per day for studying to get good marks. Nobody knows which type of format or pattern is about to come either there will be multiple choice questions, subjective type questions, match the following or comprehension type etc. Every year the level of difficulty of jee advanced paper increase so you have to do more smart work instead of hard work.

There are certain topics in the JEE Advanced syllabus that are not included in the JEE Main syllabus and vice versa. So, when preparing for the respective exams, candidates need to ensure that they are following the correct syllabus. Once the syllabus is taken care of, they must draw up a preparation strategy. Preparation for both the exams is dependent upon the candidate. Some may combine the preparation for the two exams by segregating common topics and learning them at one go or draw up a separate preparation strategy for each. Whatever be the strategy, it is recommended that the candidate first focus on building concepts NCERT books are a good bet for this purpose. Once the basic concepts are dealt with, candidates need to move on to more advanced books. Another thing to note is JEE Main is more about speed and accuracy, while JEE Advanced is about testing the conceptual ability of the candidate. To build on these fronts, the candidate must start solving sample and question papers. Taking mock test and solving practice tests is also an integral part of the preparation package for these exams.
