Hello,

As of the JEE Main January 2026 session, candidates can no longer choose their preferred exam cities. Instead, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will assign your exam center based on the address linked to your Aadhaar card.

I hope it will clear your query!!

Yes, while you are filling out the JEE Main 2026 application form , you can choose your preferred exam cities .
NTA allows candidates to select up to four cities in order of preference for the January session .

Then after the exam center is then allotted based on your preferences and availability — usually, you get one of your top preferred cities you chosen.

Tip: Choose your nearest cities carefully to avoid travel issues. And must note that you can’t change your exam city after submitting the form, so be careful before final submission.

Dear student,

As per the official NTA notices, there is no current update on whether the students in JEE Mains -2026 will be able to choose their City center or not. However, it will be great if you keep your Identity documents updated so even if this does come out true, you will be fine. The privilege to choose the city center has been historical with JEE mains under NTA, do not panic and just update your documents.

Yes, while filling out the JEE Main form, you can pick your preferred exam cities. NTA lets you choose up to four cities in order of your choice. In most cases, students get their first preference, depending on seat availability. It’s a good idea to select cities near your home to avoid travel stress on exam day. If you ever need to change your choices, you can only do it when NTA opens the correction window.

Dear student,

JEE MAIN EXAMINATION, which is held annually for admission into Engineering Colleges is held by NTA.

The NATIONAL TESTING AGENCY itself has released no official notice around the same. The privilege to choose City centre has been a part of JEE examination for a long time. However, there exists no official update around the same. Despite this, as a responsible candidate always keep your aadhaar card and other relevant documents updated so you do not have to panic at the last moments.
