Hello aspirant,

Aerospace engineering is a developing sector in India so is itself offering a good scope in aeronautical engineering. Yet there are not so much jobs available. India has got so many achievements in aerospace by making rockets, helicopters, etc. Some institutions like ISRO, HAL, DRDO has promised for prosperous achievements in aerospace. Some companies like airbus, Boeing etc are contributing a lot.

Hope it helped to clear your delimma.

Dear Ayush,

Aerospace Engineering in India has a lot of scope As mentioned by Tejas Christopher India is in the nascent stage of aerospace engineering i.e. we are not in a very advanced stage where there is saturation. We are in a an exploratory stage or in a stage where we are trying to expand our space and defense programs. As you may know, a lot of private companies are venturing and contributing to the Indian Defense program (Lockheed martin. Boeing, Airbus, Tata's, Honeywell, Mahindra, etc). Therefore, the way I see it is the aerospace sector in India is like what the silicon Valley was in the 90's- may not be at that scale but we have amazing progress happening.

Currently we hold the record for launching the maximum number of satellites in one launch and we are also know to have some of the most reliable launch vehicles in the world. Therefore, ISRO currently has a good commercial space program and have a lot of international customers

1. ISRO's mission to mars, GAGAN, IRNSS and other future programs are very exciting. We as a country don't invest like the US government invests in NASA. Our country looks at application based research where we focus on utilizing space for the benefit of the country and the common people (earth Observation, disaster management, communication have been our focus so far.

2). However, we are slowly working towards moving into what most enthusiasts call as exciting times. Some of our programs even in the aircraft and defense application sector is very exciting. The development of AURA (India's first combat autonomous UAV), Sukhoi-PAK FA project, and amazing missiles like the Brahmos are slowly getting India recognition internationally.

It is a very good time to join this sector and contribute to this domain in carly stages as there is so much we can do to improve and become leaders in the world. That being said it is not something that is achievable right away and will require many interested and enthusiastic people to toil day and night to achieve this goal.

I do see a lot of scope and progress in this industry in the coming years.

Hope I have made myself clear.

Best of Luck!
