Is This how total students for calculating rank in JEE MAIN done - (no. of students who gave paper 1&2 + who gave 1,not 2nd+who gave 2,not 1st)... I'm asking Because for JEE (Jan session) 8.69 app. students appeared but In September there would be different fig.....So how they calculate students

The correct way to calculate your JEE rank for Paper 1 is 100-your JEE Mains percentile*869010/100. Here 869010 is the no.of Candidates who appeared for JEE Mains Paper 1.
The correct way to calculate your JEE rank for Paper 2 is 100-your JEE Mains percentile*112679/100. Here 112679 is the no.of Candidates who appeared for JEE Mains Paper 2

I know how to calculate rank .......i want to know how they get these figures. (no. of candidates) to calculate the rank .....thats what i wrote in the first place.....i could have also calculated rank with paper 1 and paper 2 students separately.....i need Total students paper 1 +paper 2 figures .......That total isn't done by just adding paper 1 & paper 2 candidates...... I'm asking do they take common from 1&2 (who gave both 1&2) + (who gave 1,Not 2)+ (who gave 2, not 1) ...... That's my question is that how total students calculated????
