See this is a misconception that questions are asked from NCERT. If you analyze the previous year question then you will find a very little number of exact question in NCERT.

The purpose of NCERT is that if you read the book thoroughly and build your concepts then you can get about 50-60% question which are of the similar type of question in the book or if you read the NCERT only then the concepts you will get only from NCERT will help you to solve over 50-60% of NEET question.

As we all know NEET is a very competitive examination. So to create distinctions from the lot of students, the paper need to be moulded in such a manner that the deserving candidate get the seat. So the sequence you must follow for reading Chemistry:

  • Study thoroughly NCERT and practice problems from it.
  • If you are done from NCERT then you can switch to some other reference text books such as ABC chemistry and solve its problems.
  • If you have done this two then you will be ready enough to face advance problems and thus you will use the previous year papers or practice books to solve problems.

Some of the books you may follow for NEET chemistry:

  • Physical Chemistry by OP Tandon

  • ABC of Chemistry for Classes 11 and 12 by Modern

  • Concise Inorganic Chemistry by JD Lee

  • Dinesh Chemistry Guide

  • Practise books by VK Jaiswal (Inorganic), MS Chauhan (Organic) and N Awasthi (Physical)
