As per the previous year records there is a less chances to get seat in low rank nits. And I suggest you to add both top rank nits as well as low rank nits in counselling. Also add both trending and evergreen branches like cs, mechanical, civil, ece with non-trending branches like agriculture, textile, metallurgical because in your rank there is more chances to get seat in these non-trending branches.

You have not mentioned which state you belong to. With a rank of around 16,000 in the sc category, it becomes difficult to secure a seat in nits under computer science branch because the closing ranks for all india quota were around 1,000. Yet ranks and scores vary each year depending on the difficulty level of the question paper, total number of students who appeared for the exam and state quotas.
