Hey! Considering your GMR rank 19,551 and OBC-A rank 1,075, your chances for CSE (Computer Science) or ME (Mechanical Engineering) depend on the college and previous year cutoffs. Typically, CSE is highly competitive, and for top government engineering colleges, even OBC-A candidates need ranks usually below 1,000–1,200 for CSE. With your rank, it may be difficult to get CSE in top-tier colleges, but you could explore lower-tier government colleges or private colleges that offer CSE.

For Mechanical Engineering (ME), the cutoff is generally lower than CSE, so your rank gives you a better chance of securing a seat in ME in many government colleges. My suggestion is to prepare a list of colleges based on previous year opening and closing ranks, prioritize ME if you want a safer option, and consider CSE as a backup in mid-level colleges. Also, during counseling, check for all branches and state quota variations, as sometimes seats may open up in later rounds.

Stay focused, weigh your options, and plan wisely to get the best branch possible within your rank range.

With a GMR 19551 and OBC-A rank 1075 in WBJEE, getting CSE in top-tier colleges like Jadavpur University, IEM, Heritage, Techno Main Salt Lake is difficult, as CSE usually closes within much lower ranks even for OBC-A. However, you may still have a chance for Mechanical (ME) or other core branches in decent govt colleges and good private colleges. For CSE, you might get in lower-tier private colleges or in later rounds if cutoffs go higher.

With a GMR of 19551 and an OBC-A rank of 1075 in WBJEE, you have a decent chance to get branches like Mechanical Engineering  in some good colleges. However, Computer Science Engineering is more competitive, and getting it in top colleges may be difficult with this rank. You might get CSE in a few private or lower tier colleges, but in government or top private institutes, ME is more likely within your rank range. It is better to keep both options open during counseling.

Hello

With a GMR general rank of 19,551 and an OBC-A rank of 1,075, getting CSE (Computer Science) might be tough as it’s highly competitive. However, Mechanical Engineering (ME) usually has higher cutoff ranks, so you have a better chance there. Your OBC-A rank improves your chances significantly for both branches. It’s best to check the previous year’s cutoff trends for your category to decide. You can also consider nearby colleges with slightly relaxed cutoffs for CSE
