After a lot of controversy regarding the eligibility criteria and the number of attempts, it has been clearly mentioned that the number of attempts that any student is entitled to is 3 ONLY with effect from 2017. Attempts before 2017 will be considered obsolete. If you've given an attempt in 2017, that'll be counted as your first attempt.

Yes not only the internet but the Indian government has also announced last to last year that there would be only maximum three attempts given to any person for NEET examination this depends on the attempt you are given so the NEET examination 2016 was the first to be counted if the person was given though even for more than 3 times during that time.
