An estimated 9,00,000-10,00,000 students of Class X appear for NTSE scholarship exam every year for the 1st stage from which about 5000 are selected for the Stage 2 examination. Based on their performance in Stage 2 of NTSE, 1000 students are finally selected for the scholarship.

On average approximately 8lakh students appear for NTSE stage 1

Out of which nearly 4000 to 4500 Candidates have been qualifying in Round2 NTSE.
