Ranking of various afmc institutes and whether to join gmc or any other afmcs institute besides afmc pune??

There is only one AFMC in our country and that is AFMC Pune.

I believe this query is regarding MBBS course.

According to National Institutionalised Ranking Framework 2018 released by HRD Ministry, Govt. of India AFMC Pune was not in the top 25 colleges in the country but according to Careers360 Ranking, it is placed 7th among all the government medical colleges in our country.

It accepts 150 students every year through NEET and has a fee of ₹6.6lakhs.

Along with basic facilities like hostels, gym and sports centres AFMC also offers a mileu which encourages research at undergraduate level.

The only major drawback is the mandatory service in the army following the completion of MBBS.

If one opts for SSC, a minimum of 7 years of service is required before the doctor is eligible for post graduation and a minimum of 4 years of service before PG of Permanent Commission is chosen.

And the exit bond money is around ₹25 lakhs for an MBBS student and ₹28 lakhs for a post graduate student.

There have been talks in the council to increase the exit amount to a crore according to a recent news report.

So, for students not willing to work in the army, AFMC can be an expensive affair.

However, it is important to note here that even with the exit bond fee taken into account AFMC is still a lot cheaper than the fee of most private medical colleges.

So if the mandatory service/exit amount is not an issue, AFMC is a great place to do your MBBS from!
