The origin of gharanas tabla dates back to the the Mughal Empire, which is around 15th to 16th century AD. The Gharana refers to to a collective organisation of musicians, including Tabla players.
After originating in the early Mughal period, this art form has gradually passed down through ages passing through various generations and times.
