Hi,

In NEET 2019, 3% seats are reserved for the physically handicapped candidates. In addition, the cut off for people under PWD category is also 45% instead of the 50% for general category candidates.

Hope this will help. For further queries, feel free to ask. We are here to help you.

Good luck.

Hello Kartik,

As per the judgement which came out in 2018, the apex court allowed a student with low vision to persue the course as he cleared the test under the physically handicapped category. So this year also if the candidate clears the NEET in the Physically Handicapped category they will be allowed to persue MBBS and won't be denied admission.

HOpe this answers your question.

Hi Kartik,

As per the MCI issued guidelines, people with visual disability are eligible to apply for NEET 2019 but you will have to check the disability score.

Persons with a visual disability of 40% or more shall not be eligible to pursue Graduate Medical Education. Persons with visual disability of less than 40% are eligible to pursue GME, but do not qualifi for reservation as the extent of visual impairment is less than the benchmark definition of Low Vision.

According to the guidelines, low vision refers to a condition in which an person has any of the following conditions -

a. Visually acuity not exceeding 6/18 or 20/60 and less than 6/60 or 20/200 (Snellen) in the better eye with correcting lens; or

b. Limitation of the field of vision subtending an angle of more than 20 degrees upto 40 degree.

I hope this helps you, please feel free to continue to thread for amy more information.
