IIM's are the dream colleges of almost all the CAT aspirants and we all know that students are called based on their CAT scores. But CAT scores are not the only criteria on which call from the top IIM's depend. There are other factors that play an important role. Each IIM has it's own CAT cut-off on the basis of which it calls the candidates. Different IIM's give different weightage to CAT scores. Some of the IIM's like IIM Bangalore gives more weightage to your past academic record but some IIM's like IIM Calcutta gives more weightage to CAT score. Apart from class 10th and 12th your work experience also plays an important role. IIM's give weightage to work experience also. Then there comes the extra curricular activities. How active a person is in his life, what kind of responsible positions he has held in his life, Has he ever lead any group or team in his life, etc.? Gender diversity also plays a vital role. All these factors play an important role because these things decide whether a person is fit to study in an IIM or not.

Since you have got 97.2 percentile you still have a chance to get calls from new IIM's. Even after getting a call from IIM's one has to score good in the WAT and PI. All these factors combined together will help you in securing a seat at the IIM's. Scoring good in CAT is important but that alone doesn't guarantee a call from the IIM's.
