Hello Aspirant, hope you are doing good.
So, the answer to this question totally depends on you. You didn't mention whether you gave the exam this year or not, so i don't know your progress till now, to analyze. Taking a drop or not depends on how passionate you are for your dream colleges, being practical ofcourse, because only passion isn't enough to crack IITs, you need a lot of knowledge about the subjects as well, and a lot of hardwork. If you are sure shot confident that you are nearly prepared and you can crack the exam with a year's preparation, they I will definitely suggest you to take a drop because it's worth the risk.

Hope this helps you. Good Luck!
Dear Student,
We first of all suggest you to weigh the pros and cons of taking a drop year. Seeing the level of preparation you had this season, you yourself know where you stand in the amount of effort required to clear the exam next year.
Ask your elders, seniors, peers regarding the doubts you have. Don't panic what the society would think if you take a drop year. It should be your own decision for your own future.
Best wishes to you. Hope this helps.
Thank You.
