Hi Sridhar, you can't give JEE Advanced without writing JEE  Mains as JEE Mains is the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced and you need to get the cut off marks for your category in JEE Mains to be able to write JEE Advanced. The exam is of 360 marks,120 marks each for physics, chemistry and maths. For details on cut offs and trends https://engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-main-cutoff

Hope it was helpful!!!Thank you.

Hi Sridhar for AAT also same procedure is followed, you need to clear JEE Mains. A student has to clear both JEE Mains Papers(1 & 2) and also achieve a decent rank in JEE Advanced(i.e. CML Rank) in order to be eligible for AAT for IIT. This is because your admission into IITs is purely based on your JEE Advanced Rank. Qualifying in AAT will make you further eligible for B.Arch/B.Des programs in IITs. But still your JEE Advanced Rank is required for admission, as there is no score in AAT(just qualify/disqualify).The link below will provide you with further related details:https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/engineering.careers360.com/articles/jee-advanced-aat%3famp

Only foreign nationals are allowed to give JEE Advanced without qualifying JEE Mains.

For Indian students, you have to qualify JEE Mains before giving Advanced.

Hello Sridhar,

Sorry, No. You cannot do so. You will have to rewrite the Mains too. The IITs have taken this decision to make sure that the first time qualifiers do not suffer. Another reason is that, within a year, there can be a chance that you have forgot the concepts and probably can't even clear the Mains this year.

Sorry for being too harsh in the last part. You might be intelligent, so please note that I was giving a general case.
