As per the new rules,even private candidates are eligible for appearing in NEET exam.You just have to full fill the eligibility criteria which is-

1) if you belong to general category then you should have 50% aggregate marks in PCB and if you belong to obc/sc/st category then you should have 40% aggregate marks in PCB in 12th board.

2) your age should be less than 25 years if you belong to general category and less than 30 years if you beloing to obc/sc/st category.

There is no issue of gap year,you just need to give a affadavit for gap year at the time of admission.i hope this information helps you.
