sir if I have to do UPSC preparation after 12th what should I choose after 12th which can help me during my preparation. I am from pcmb stream..
Hello,
The graduation course matters a lot in UPSC preparation. It can either increase your work load in UPSC preparations or may decrease it. Usually students opt for courses like History, Geography, Political Science, etc. for graduation because it is common perception that the subjects will overlap and will help in UPSC. It is true that a substantial portion of the syllabus will overlap, but what if you don't have interest in these or you are not eligible for them.
Students must then choose the course of their interest and based on their class 12th stream. Like in past few years a huge number of engineers are qualifying UPSC. They choose mathematics, physics, etc. as their optional in UPSC.
As you are PCMB student, you have options like BSc. in Botany, Microbiology, Anthropology, Chemistry, Physics, etc. or BTech. etc. You can also opt for BA history, geography, political science, etc.
You can also go through UPSC Annual report, where you can check the number of candidates qualifying UPSC from particular subjects, and many more such details.
Hope it helps.
All the Best!!
