Hi there,

Pensions in Railway and Civil services has not been discontinued . If one have worked for more than 10 years for Indian Railways then he/she is eligible for pension. One can enjoy life time security through pension given by Railways to its employees.

In civil services, IAS officers are provided lifetime pension facilities according to New pension policy reintroduced for all government employees.

Hope it helps you

Good luck!

Yes on the date 1st April 2004 the national pension system has restricted to give pension to all the employees of the government. The national pension system is authorised by pension fund regulatory and Development authority of India. This decision was taken due to non availability of enough funds for paying pension to the Government employees. This decision of stopping pension to Government employees has affected to more than 300000 employees who are recruited after the new pension scheme was announced.
