St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) has been conferred fresh autonomous status with effect from the academic Year 2021-22. The college was granted autonomy by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the UGC Scheme.

It is an Autonomous Institute under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, Karnataka State, and is recognized by the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
