Dear aspirant,

To study the population density of different plant species you need following materials:

  • Hammer
  • Nail
  • Thread

The procedure is as follows:

  • Hammer a nail in the farming area without harming the vegetation.
  • Fix four nails like this in form of square.
  • Tie thread to the nails such that it forms a square of 1m*1m.
  • Make nine more similar quadrants at the site of study.
  • Now count the number of individuals in specie A in the quadrants and note it down.
  • In this way count the number of individuals in other species and note it down.
  • Then calculate the density using the formula,

Density= Total number of individuals in the specie in all sampling units / Total number of sampling units.
