Hi Akshay.Actually it is not exactly true because VIT releases only ranks but not marks.So it is just an estimation.But more probably it differs only slightly but not too much.Because they take many factors into consideration and caluculate it .You can get the range of your rank by your marks which will differ 

slightly with the actual one
