Question : The table given below shows the production of taxis by two companies in 6 years.
Year | A | B |
Y1 | 800 | 1800 |
Y2 | 500 | 1000 |
Y3 | 700 | 800 |
Y4 | 1200 | 400 |
Y5 | 900 | 300 |
Y6 | 600 | 500 |
Which of the following statements is not correct?
I. The production of taxis by A in year Y1 is 20 percent more than the production of taxis by B in year Y2.
II. The ratio of the total production of taxis by A in years Y3 and Y4 to the total production of taxis by B in years Y5 and Y6 is 8: 19.
Option 1: Both I and II
Option 2: Only I
Option 3: Neither I nor II
Option 4: Only II
Correct Answer: Neither I nor II
Solution :
According to the question
Production by A in Y1 = 800
Production by B in Y2 = 1000
⇒ ($\frac{800-1000}{1000}$) × 100 = ($\frac{−200}{1000}$) × 100 = −20
So, the statement I is not correct.
Total production for A in Y3 and Y4
= 700 + 1200 = 1900
Total production for B in Y5 and Y6
= 300 + 500 = 800
So, (total production for A in Y3 and Y4) : (total production for B in Y5 and Y6) = 19 : 8
So, the statement II is not correct.
Hence, the correct answer is 'Neither I nor II'.
