Hello student,

This is really a tough question and also a life defining question also. Now, if you are planning for doing a MS later in life in CS, then I highly suggest you that you should do CS in average college. HOwever, if you are planning for placements directly after Btech degree, then you should opt for the degree in the top NITs as the exposure as well as the placement track record is better there.

Now, I leave the choice with your future endeavours and you further conscience

I hope this helps, All the Best!

If your so called Average College has strong Placements for CSE as well as good faculty, infrastructure and research facilities, definitely Average Colleges for CSE over NIT Civil. Incase youre interested in UPSC CSE, UPSC ESE, Government Service Preparation, MBA after BTech or maybe GATE, PSUs, I believe Civil for Top NITs in that case maybe a better option. NITs will definitely give you a better exposure. Other option could be settling for Mechanical, Electrical in an Average NIT, which too is a good option considering both Placements and NIT Tag.
