JEE Main will be organized twice a year with every attempt in Multiple shifts so to avoid any partiality in terms of difficulty of paper of different shifts, NTA will calculate percentile score and based on percentiles scores it will calculate the ranks.
Percentile indicates the percentage of students who scored less than or equal to you. So for each shift percentile score for all subjects and the total percentile score will be calculated termed as NTA score.
A similar process will be followed for the second attempt.
