Hi there,

In active attacks attacker tries to modify the content of message. Attacker intercepts connection and efforts to modify messages content. Attacker modifies actual information.

In passive attack attacker copies the messages by observing them. Then attacker saves it for using it in unethical way. Attacker does not modifies actual information.

Example of active attacks are following:

Session hijacking, man-in the middle,impersonation.

Example of passive attack is when an intruder records network traffic using a packet analyzer tool.

Hope it helps you

Good luck!

Hello

A network exploit in which a hacker attempts to make changes to data on the target or data  route to the target is an active attack. There are several different types of active attacks for example Attackers may attempt to insert data into the system or change or control data that is already in the system.

In a passive attack, an intruder monitors a system and network communications and scans for open ports and other vulnerabilities.  An example is when an intruder records network traffic using a packet analyzer tool , such as Wireshark, for later analysis.

Thanks
