Hello Aryan,

Interestingly, The matter of ranks has come down to the fact-

"Good rank, Less fee.''

Generally, Phase 1 counseling takes place in Mid May and is for rank up to 20k. Tuition fee is around 1.5 lakh per annum varying for branches. ( around 1.5 lakh for MECH).

For students with a rank higher than 20k phase, 2 takes place which has 5 categories. After each category the tuition fee increase as much as 50k. So it goes all the way from 2lakh per annum to 4.9 lakh per annum which is for category 5

When I appeared for counseling (2012), it wasn't the same. We underwent a good counseling process and the breakdown was something like-

Mechanical - < 7000

Mechanical (with any specialization) - < 8000

In total, there were 580 seats for Mechanical (Core) and 80 for Mechanical (Automobile)

You can get an insight with this picture. I doubt if there will be any significant deviation in the numbers!
