For History:

  • Samagra Bharatha by K. Sadashiv
  • Karnataka History by Suryanath Kamath
  • Modern Indian History by Bipin Chandra (Translated by HS Gopal Rao)
For Geography:

  • Karnataka, Indian, Human, Physical Geography by Dr Ranganath
For Environment and Ecology:

  • V. Bairappa (IRS)  Jice Publication
  • Dr Ranganath and VS SomaShekar
For Polity:

  • PS GangadharKM Suresh                                      For Internal Relations:
  • N Hallappa                                                 Magazines:
  • Spardha Vijetha Monthly Magazine

Apart from the books above, there are recommended KAS preparation material such as:

  • Budget and Economic Survey.
  • State Board books.
  • NCERT books are strongly recommended for civil service examinations.
