The excellent engineer is one, who have knowledge about other fields also. So, you should focus on core Mechanical Engineering, but along with this, you should be passionate to learn other good things.
Some tips to do good in Mechanical Engineering are:

  • Good Communicator: You should be good at communication skills so as to handle a good job role in an organization
  • Work in all Environment: You can be handed over field work, so you must be adjustable to all circumstances
  • Team Player: You should be with team skills to reach high level in your career
