Hello aspirant

The most common oxidation state of alkali metals is  +1. The outer electronic configuration of alkali metals is ns¹ . They can loose electron readily to form a unipositive  ion with stable Noble gas configuration. Alkali metals exhibit +1 oxidation state because after releasing electron they become stable like Noble gases.. All alkali metals are situated in Group 1and thus valence orbital is ns1.

The most common oxidation state of alkali metals is +1. The reason behind this is that all the alkali metals are in group 1 and all alkali metal lose one electron to acquire nearest inert gas configuration. For example, Na- 2,8,1.
Na+ = 2,8 which is stable by acquiring the nearest inert gas configuration.
